Budget in a Box – have your say on how the city spends your tax dollars

As the City of Austin gears up to draft its next budget, here’s your opportunity to give the city your ideas on how to prioritize its spending. The city is promoting its Budget in a Box:

1. Participate in a facilitated session on Wednesday, May 20, 2015, at 5:30 p.m., at Dove Springs Recreation Center (5801 Ainez Drive).  This one is for District 2 residents and is sponsored by Council Member Delia Garza’s office.

2.  Participate in the online version – see http://www.austintexas.gov/budgetbox

3. Gather some of your neighbors and host a Budget in a Box session. Send for your own box that includes instructions, literature, a DVD of the Budget Basics video, discussion materials and comment cards. Once you’re done, send the results back to the City.

Budget in a Box also comes in a Spanish version, so please do share this with your friends who are primarily Spanish-speaking!

And of course, you’re always free to contact your city council member and share your opinion – check out our Resources page for links to the members’ pages!
