Feed the kids their fruits and veggies

We have exciting news from our Partners at GAVA (GO!Austin/VAMOS!Austin)!

Odom Elementary is the very first school to start with the Brighter Bites program in 78745. Brighter Bites “brings healthier choices into the homes, minds and mealtimes of our community’s children and their families” with the ultimate goal of lowering obesity rates and creating long-term healthy habits.

Brighter Bites will be providing several pounds of healthy food to families at
Odom Elementary 1 day a week for 6-8 weeks.

You might be wondering how you can help make this a reality. Here’s your chance!

They need your help unloading and bagging the fresh fruits and veggies that we send home to our Pre-K, Kinder, 1st, and 2nd graders at Odom Elementary every Monday. We suggest wearing your workout gear or clothes you don’t mind getting dirty because you’re sure to get a workout in! You’ll get first-hand experience fighting hunger in Austin’s food deserts. They cannot operate without the commitment of wonderful volunteers like YOU.

You are needed from 8 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. on any (or all) of the following Mondays:
Oct. 12, Oct. 19, Oct. 26, Nov. 2, Nov. 9, Nov. 16, Nov. 23
